Rhode Island Cancer Summit
The Partnership to Reduce Cancer in Rhode Island invites you to view our 2020 Cancer Summit. Our first-ever virtual event featured presentations on secondary cancers and oral health, the role of psychosocial oncology in the diagnosis and treatment process, a hands-on exercise to highlight the relationship between survivors, caregivers, and providers and a keynote address by Dr. Robert Legare.
Keynote Speaker: Robert Legare, MD, Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine (Medical Oncology) at Yale Cancer Center and Medical Director for the Smilow Cancer Hospital Care Center at Westerly and Waterford speaks about cancer breakthroughs in the past 20 years that have had a positive impact on survivorship. He also discusses the future of cancer research and treatment and its impact on survivorship in the next decade.
If you were unable to attend this year's conference or would like to rewatch the presentations, you may watch below.
Mala Bracelet Demonstration
Session 2 of this year's Summit is a demonstration by Linda Dziobek, RN, on how to make a Mala or meditation bracelet. If you purchased a kit from Bead shop and missed the live event, you can watch Linda's demonstration in the video below! If you are interested in learning how to make a Mala bracelet, we welcome you to watch as well, even if you didn't buy a kit.
Mala Bracelet Gallery
This gallery showcases the Mala bracelets created by attendees who attended the Summit this year. The supplies used to create all of these bracelets are from the PRCRI kits that were specially made by the Bead shop for the demonstration session of the Summit. Special thanks to Janice Parsons and Kate Richbourg of Bead shop for assisting with the creation and delivery of the kits!
